LIGHT
Prefers bright, indirect light, to bright light
Flourishes in desert regions, therefore copes well with full sun and relative dryness
WATER
Very sensitive to overwatering
In general, allow the top half of the soil to become dry before watering
In lower light conditions, water plant less; in brighter conditions, water more
SOIL
Needs a heavy enough soil with the ability to hold the plant upright
Soil does not need to be high quality but does need to be well-draining
TOXICITY
Toxic to dogs and cats - toxic compounds are "steroidal saponins" that produce serious intestinal irritation and even central nervous system effects if a large enough amount is consumed
Human contact with Saponins can sometimes provoke a reaction and damage red blood cells in the area of contact
